Snack Review : Chile Picante con Limon Corn Nuts

Oh how I love me some Corn Nuts. A most crunchy and satisfying snack. I've only really ever had the original ones so thought I would branch out a bit and try some flavored ones. I saw these chile picante ones and scooped them right up and in they went to my basket full of junk food to munch on.

I'll be honest that I was a bit scared that they might be too spicy for me. I can handle some heat but my preferred range is medium-medium/hot. Anything blazing and I'm crying and up all night with acid reflux. So I was pleasantly surprised by these. They tasted like chili powder...but in a good way. The limon (which I assume is either lemon or lime or a combination there of) added a sourness that was perfect with the spicy saltiness. The spice level was more on the lower end of medium. But there was such a punch of flavor happening. Oh and that wonderful crunchiness. I'm lucky I didn't crack a tooth but oh man would it be so worth it. I think I'm going to have to give up the original flavor and go with these little beauties cause oh man did they leave me happy. I kept going back for more and more.

Snack Review: Planters Banana Sundae Mix

Who doesn't love a banana sundae during the summertime? When in my local 711 I came across new snack mixes made by Planters. Since, I hate raisins I skipped the oatmeal raisin mix but couldn't pass up trying this one.

The mix is made up of honey roasted peanuts, chocolate candy coated peanuts, vanilla yogurt coated peanuts, strawberry yogurt coated peanuts, and banana chips.

Ok so while I was intrigued by the sounds of this mix I was also a bit hesitant. My main concern? A fakey taste. The peanuts were supposed to be the honey roasted kind but I didn't quite detect the honey part but I did get a pleasant lightly sweet and lightly salted taste. The chocolate candy coated peanuts were very much like peanut m&m's. The yogurt covered peanuts were larger than I was expecting. They were nearly the size of jordan almonds making them seem massively huge compared to the candy coated ones. They were nice and creamy adding another texture layer to the mix. The flavor wasn't too bad but did leave a sweet after taste in my mouth. The banana chips were not overly sweet and added an interesting texture and flavor to the mix. It was nice and crunchy but wasn't super sweet like some banana chips I've tried before.

Over all it was tasty but I could have done without the yogurt covered pieces

. My favorite bites were of just the nuts and banana chips together.  I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again but I wouldn't turn it down if someone offered me more.

Candy Review- Oh Henry made by Nestle

Ok so I've heard Oh Henry before but quite frankly I don't think I've ever had one before. Ok I admit it is possible that one or two may have made their way into the Holly Hobby pillowcase I used as a trick or treat bag every year. But even if I had tasted this confection currently produced by Nestle this is basically a new one for me. I picked up this treat yesterday as I scavenged the aisles in Big Lots. According to the label Oh Henry are 2 peanutty caramel fudge bars in milk chocolate.

With my first bite I was immediately scrounging my brain to figure out what it was that it reminded me of. It didn't take me long to figure out that it reminds me of a Snickers
bar. The chocolate is a nice smooth milk chocolate. The peanuts are on the softer side but add a great flavor and texture to the bar. The caramel is that perfect chewy sticky kind that just pulls a bit as you bite through the candy. Where it differs from a Snickers is that it has a vanilla fudge center instead of nougat. Though to be honest if you told me it was nougat I would believe you.

I actually really enjoyed this one. I gave my 8 year old son the second bar and asked what he thought. He said it was really good and turned his back to me while devouring it. Though to be fair my son will eat just about any kind of candy.  I don't think this will replace a regular Snickers bar for me but I can see myself eating this again in the future.
